The University Archives is the official archival repository for the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus. In 2022, UMKC Libraries hired the first full-time faculty University Archivist in the University of Missouri Campus Archives Program’s 45-year history to solely oversee the Kansas City campus’s archives.
Today, a small yet mighty team of one faculty, one full-time staff, and five part-time student assistants preserve and make accessible more than 7,700 linear feet, or 1.5 miles of lined-up boxes in a row, of UMKC’s historical records related to campus activities, student life, faculty and employee excellence, and affiliated organizations.
Team UA needs your help in catching up on much needed preservation work, collection development, and collection maintenance! Your gift will support our efforts to archive all aspects of UMKC’s history, from our earliest collections dating to 1895, to administrative papers and memorabilia from the present day.
