Undergraduate Research Travel Fund

UMKC has supported undergraduate students doing mentored research and scholarship with faculty for over 25 years. Students have been able to apply for small grants to purchase equipment, supplies, and other necessities to carry out their research during the academic year and over the summer. But we lack dedicated funding to support students whose research and scholarship is then subsequently accepted for presentation at regional, national, or international conferences, workshops, festivals, and other professional venues. Such presentation and networking opportunities are critical to students' career success, particularly for first-generation students and others who come to UMKC without having access to professional connections via family relationships. Funds accrued through Giving Day would cover travel costs (e.g, registration, transportation, lodging, meals) for undergraduate students to present their research and scholarship at conferences and other venues.
