Roo Athletics

UMKC features Kansas City’s lone Division 1 athletics program. With 14 sports and over 200 student-athletes, the Roos represent UMKC with pride, vigor and competitiveness on and off the courts and fields of play. With a nationally ranked men’s soccer program, a championship-contending men’s golf team and a track and field program on the cusp of returning to its once proud roots, Kansas City Athletics is poised for the big leap forward.

Kangaroos don’t walk. They can’t go backwards. The only way they move is by taking big leaps forward. Just like our namesake, it’s time for the Roos to make a jump. To transform our institution, our culture, and our city. To change what people expect from our university – and what we expect from ourselves. Taking the leap means being bold – maybe even a little daring. But we weren’t built to play it safe. If we want to go where we’ve never been, it’s time to level up. It’s time to take the big leap.
