The UMKC Game Dev Team is a community of creators—students coming together to build, to learn, and to lead. We foster creativity and hands-on experience in game development by cultivating a workplace-like environment led entirely by students. Our members collaborate to design and submit original games to indie competitions and game jams, striving to complete at least one full project each year. Game development is inherently interdisciplinary, and our team proudly reflects that—bringing together students from computer science, art, music composition, urban planning, architecture and beyond.
Highlights:
🎮 Participated in two intensive month-long game jams.
🛠️ Designed and launched two original indie games: Phantom Photos and Dress to Aggress.
🎉 Hosted our largest-ever showcase event for students and community members to play student-made games in person.
Support Game Development Club:
$10 fuels our prototypes with 3D models, sound effects, markers, paper, dice, game pieces, or cards.
$25 ignites curiosity with take-aways for our events, like: stickers, pins, and T-shirts.
$50 boosts recruitment with posters, flyers and shiny trinkets that catch the eye.
$250+ contributes to send our students to attend the GDC (Game Development Conference).
