KCUR 89.3 and 91.9 Classical KC are public media services of UMKC. Operating since 1957, KCUR is a charter member station of NPR and operates a large newsroom of reporters, podcasters, editors, and producers providing local, independent, public journalism to more than 1 million monthly users. KCUR also leads three regional news collaborations: Kansas News Service, Harvest Public Media, and NPR's Midwest Newsroom. Classical KC launched in 2020 as a 24/7 classical music service. Its goal is to provide as much local content as possible from local composers and performers, as well as help build the audiences of classical music organizations in Kansas City.
